AECJ (Amazon Employees for Climate Justice) decided to team up with Remote Advocacy to organize a walkout

The walkout was to protest the company’s policy towards employees and climate.

one thing that caught my attention was someone’s comment on Blind (an anonymous community for tech workers)

The commenter said “This is a typical activist move, using events for personal gain”

I was wondering what personal gain he meant, but I realized he maybe didn’t know what an activist is.

What is an activist?

An activist takes action to bring about social or political change. Activists can work on various issues, such as environmental protection, human rights, or social justice.

Why activists are selfless?

Activists are selfless because they are willing to put the needs of others before their own. They are motivated by a desire to make a difference in the world, and they are willing to sacrifice their time, energy, and sometimes even their safety to do so.

It’s okay to be lazy or to not care about something that others might argue is important.

After all, not all of us have to agree on everything.

But you don’t have to be rude to the ones that are trying to make a change.

After all, if they’re right (and they’re – the evidence of climate change is overwhelming) and they succeed, your children might have a better future because of the selfless punch you were discouraging or making fun of.
